Attire: mermaid tail towel

Any little lady that’s seen The Little Mermaid likely dreams of sportin’ fins in the sea the same way The Little Mermaid dreams of walking on land.  Help make these dreams a reality with this mermaid tail towel tutorial:

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, we love a good double whammy and we’re especially loving this mermaid tail because it’s more like a triple favor-activity-attire whammy!  Your guests will have a blast dreaming up mermaid story lines in their very own mermaid tail towel.  We also love the idea of using towels rather than fabric making this little gift pretty darn functional… does that make it a quadruple whammy?  If you’re not the DIY type we mentioned these options on Monday that work well too:

Once your mermaids are dressed the part, crown them King and Queen of the sea:

Either head to your nearest burger kind and pick up some crowns you can turn inside out to decorate (free!) or purchase this pack of DIY crowns.  Then get an array of glitter glue, jewels, and markers and let your guests have at it!

Once their outfits are complete you have a couple options for party activities.  From a seahorse pinata:

to going on a “gadgets and gizmos of plenty” treasure hunt:

Get a pack of DIY treasure hunt maps and let the mermen and mermaids run around hunting for various gadgets (like Ariel would have loved).  Give the items they’re hunting for silly names like “dinglehopper”, “snarflblatt”, “thingamabob”, whose its” and “whats its” – just like in the movie!  Once each child has nabbed themselves one, let them exchange them for their party favor prizes:

Sand buckets can house everything from flip flops to treats and we think our favor tags look pretty darn sweet tied to the handle (in our most humble opinion of course).

We also spotted these adorable customize-able bracelets with a coordinating mermaid charm… too darn perfect and at $4 a pop, a great price!:

Today’s your last chance to enter to win a digital “you print” invite good for any party in our shop by commenting on any blog post this week, so get to it!  We’ll announce the winner tomorrow along with our Mermaid Party Week Inspiration Board.  You won’t want to miss it!

sushi

Your next mermaid party should be easy enough to host if you keep your food and drink spread centered around all things under the sea.  We’re talking starfish, octopus, seahorses and more:

Loving the idea found here for turning a pepper into the head of an octopus overlooking the veggies and dip!  Too clever! Sushi is another festive food, but in case your little ones aren’t exactly raw fish fans we spotted this option and thought it was too adorable not to mention:

Rice krispie sushi!

As for sweets you can stick with all things blue via a fun ombre cake (it’s ombre on the inside too!) and purple cake pops, or keep things more literal in the form of mermaid tails and starfish cookies:

We chatted about this octopus punch and coordinating straws last week during “Pirate Party Week” and thought it was worth mentioning again, especially if you’re doing a boy/girl Pirate/Mermaid party!  This punch is a perfect fit!

Our water bottles labels with “salt water” or “sea water” on them would be a cute easy addition to your drink table as well!

Tomorrow we’re featuring a bunch of Mermaid Party Activity and Favor ideas and don’t forget you can enter to win a digital “you print” invite good for any party in our shop by leaving a comment on any blog post this week!
