We toyed with incorporating penguin meat into the menu for the Pink Penguin Party, but actually eating penguin seemed kind of inappropriate, and probably illegal and well just plain gross.

Instead we thought we’d stick with warm, cozy food in the form of grilled cheese and a couple of soups:

Using mugs as your serving dish keeps with that “cozy” feel and is great for that smaller kid friendly serving size.

Accent the soup table with toppings and these adorable olive penguins:

Sweets come in the form of food and drink when you incorporate a hot cocoa bar:

We love how Bower Power used individual coasters to add a splash of festive color and candy cane stirring sticks are a cute/inexpensive touch.

These peppermint chocolate dipped marshmallows and chocolate spoons are tasty stirring sticks and super simple to make too… guests can take their pick.

Cozy, warm, cute and creative!  CHECK, CHECK, CHECK, CHECK!  Tomorrow we’ll turn our hot cocoa idea into a handy little party favor and we’re talking about a couple penguin party activities so get back here for that.  Enter to win a digital “you print” invite good for any party in our shop by leaving a comment on any post this week.

pink the tail on the monkey

There are a few sock monkey party activities that peaked our interest this week, one of which you can buy straight out of our shop so we’ll start with that:

Good old fashioned pin the tail on the sock monkey, who needs a donkey!?  We love taking an idea that’s old and making it new again, and in all actuality the sock monkey is something old that’s kinda been made new again as well!  Very fitting!

These sock monkey puppets and fabric sock monkey cards are a couple crafts that will keep the kids busy and won’t break your bank.  Put some of your old craft scraps to good use!  Extra puppet plus, the kids can play with those at the party and they double as your goodie bag.  Oh how we love thee multi-functional party craft!!  Find the complete sock monkey puppet paper kit here.

For favors, a homemade sock monkey is an obvious option:

but if you aren’t the sewing type…

These sock monkey beenies are just $6.88 away ;) .

Too expensive?  No Problem, these banana runt baggies are cute, easy and won’t break the bank:

 Simple, sweet, fun!

We’ll be drawing the winner of our giveaway tomorrow so if you haven’t entered to win a digital “you print” invite good for any party in our shop yet, just leave a comment on any post this week and you’re in!

I have to admit I’m a bit torn writing this post today because it’s filled with bananas.

And I hate bananas.

But darn it they’re darn cute with the Sock Monkey theme and I am woman enough to acknowledge that.  Excuse me while I gag my way through this post.

Kick things off with a couple sandwich options including PB & J and PB & Bananas:

Next up these banana puddings are theme friendly and chocolate pudding cups match the color scheme while giving you a bit of variety (you know, for the banana haters):

You could also do an array of banana nut muffins amongst blueberry and or poppyseed muffins.  Again the blue in the blueberry and poppyseed match the color scheme while the banana is all monkey.

For sweets we thought cookies and color coordinate candy paired with, wait for it, banana treats hit the spot:

Are those cookies cute or what!?  The banana split bar is festive fun as well!

Because sock monkey’s are indeed an old fashioned toy, we thought an old fashioned drink paired the best:

Chocolate milk or regular milk will go great in the re-purposed frappucino bottles or opt for the ever so sweet root beer float!

Keep in mind you have plenty other food options if you keep with the “red, white, blue, and brown” color scheme, these are just a few we thought were fun.  If you haven’t entered to win a digital “you print” invite good for any party in our shop yet, be sure to leave a comment on any post this week and you’re in!  Tomorrow we’ll be chatting about favors and activities that go great with the sock monkey theme, you won’t want to miss it.

Have we mentioned that we can take nearly ANY of our party themes and customize them for twins/triplets/siblings/you name it!?  Well now we have I guess.

When Madeliene and Luke’s mom contacted us about taking our Sock Monkey Party and doubling things up for her twins we were thrilled to help and even more thrilled she posted photos on pinterest:

Those are two of the sweetest little sock monkeys we’ve ever seen!

The amazing photos were taken by Visual Image Photography and the entire event turned out flawless.  This was so much fun seeing our decor doubled up!

Be sure to enter our giveaway for a digital “you print” invite customized to match any theme in our shop!  All you have to do is leave a comment on any post this week and you’re in.  Tomorrow we’re talking food and drink ideas for the Sock Monkey Party, you won’t want to miss it!

We’re super excited to center our entire week around a sock:

Typically we don’t like to encourage eating as your child’s activity (get a move on little ones!), but we’re going to break our own rule today.  After all, folks coming to a Cupcake Party should be expecting some indulging, and we’re happy to oblige.

A “decorate your own cupcakes” bar at least allows your guests to get creative!

Include an array of frosting options and unique toppings like fruit, candy, caramel corn, coconut, marshmallows, cereal, almonds and more.  Don’t forget to finish things off with our custom toppers!

An older group might enjoy a little cupcake fondue, for most it might be their first time!  Set it up like a picnic on the floor of your living room and go “Troop Beverly Hills” style:

Anyone else remember when the troop skipped out on the s’mores and camp out and opted for fondue in a hotel suite?  No?  Am I the only one pulling inspiration from 80′s comedies?  You and I both know Shelley Long was exuberant.

Back to the fondue…

How fun is that?

These favors will have your guests looking the part in chef hats and aprons.

Personalize things with names on the aprons and these adorable cupcake liner flowers on the hats.  So festive!  And if spending $9/apron is too rich for your blood we found these plain white children’s aprons for half the price.

Send your chef’s home with the cupcake in a jar we mentioned yesterday so they can continue their indulging once they recover from their cupcake coma.

We also spotted these cupcake photo holders on clearance at Pier 1 and absolutely love the idea of using them as favors. Take a photo of guests holding their culinary masterpieces and include the photo in a “Thank you” card to slide right into place on the photo holder!  Cupcake Party brilliance.

Tomorrow we’ll be announcing the winner of our giveaway so now’s your last chance to get entered to win a digital “you print” invite good for any party in our shop.  Good Luck!
